Indications: Treatment of heart failure after myocardial infarction, hypertension (uses not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration): heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, treatment of primary hyperaldosteronism, central serous chorioretinopathy.
Consumption: Hypertension → 50 mg per day at first and then increase to 50 mg twice a day if needed Heart failure after myocardial infarction → 25 mg daily at first, then increase to 50 mg per day within a month Heart failure → 25 mg daily up to a maximum dose of 50 mg
Pregnancy: Category B. There is little information about its use during pregnancy. In general, the use of mineralocorticoid receptor inhibitors is not recommended for the treatment of hypertension in pregnant women.
Complications: Very common side effects: hyperkalemia, hypertriglyceridemia Common side effects: confusion, fatigue, increased serum creatinine, hypercholesterolemia, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms Uncommon side effects: gynecomastia, breast pain, vaginal bleeding Rare side effects in case reports: angioedema, skin rashes, increased Liver enzymes, increased uric acid and BUN
